LIFE AMONG THE BELIEVERS

The Christian church was known as such because of the way in which they lived. The believers were of one mind, one spirit.

What do we know of the early Christian church?
1. It was a learning church – they continued to listen to the apostles teaching.

2. It was a church of fellowship – they practiced togetherness.

3. It was a praying church – they prayed because they knew that they needed guidance from God.

4. It was a church where believers had respect for God.

5. It was a church where God allowed miracles to happen

6. It was a church where no one had a need. Those who were rich sold their possessions and gave the money to the church.

How did the church benefited from the Christian behavior of the early Christians?
Everyone’s needs were met.
Believers became better Christians.
People were encouraged to join the church.

Who was Joseph Barnabas?
Joseph Barnabas was a Levite from Cyprus. He was one of those who sold his land and gave all the money from the sale to the church.

What was the pooling of resources among the community of believers called?
The pooling of resources in the community of believers was called the ‘Common Fund’.

What was the purpose of the common fund according to Acts 4:35?
The purpose of the common fund was to assist those who were in need.
